Meet Dr Geoffrey Barigye, an important and valued member of our MMIC Design Engineering team at Arralis based in our Swindon offices.
Geoffrey who is originally from Kampala, Uganda first joined Arralis in 2015 working part time in our former Manchester design office while completing his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He specialized in MMIC transistor device modelling and power amplifier design, at the University of Manchester. In February 2018 Geoffrey became a full-time member of the Arralis MMIC Design team working on a range of projects and products.
Geoffrey is presently working on the product design of power amplifiers, switches and LNAs using GaN and GaAs technology at Ka band that is utilized in high frequency RF front end systems used in high speed data, communications and automotive radar.
He has been involved in the design of W-Band MMICS, specifically for 92-96GHz image cancellation mixers, used in the Arralis transmitter and receiver modules; these can be used in either a Fixed Beam or a 1D / 2D Monopulse W-Band Radar.
A major part of Geoffrey’s design input has been the creation of Ka band MMICs, operating between 17-21 GHz and 27-31 GHz, including mixers and amplifiers for the Ka-Band Transceiver Chipset.
During his time at Arralis, Geoffrey has expanded his knowledge by completing three different courses: Advanced Techniques in RF Power Amplifier Design with Steve Cripps (Distinguished Research Professor for the School of Engineering at Cardiff University and organised by the Compound Semiconductor Catapult), ANSYS HFSS Antenna Design Course and AWR Microwave Office and VSS Training.
